I’ve been around, I know good from bad, terrible from great, and The Curry Mansion Inn is by far and away, the most impressive bed and breakfast I have ever been to!
I don’t say this because of the heritage and it’s important history to the city, or because it is one of the nation’s top ten Bed and Breakfasts by INNovations’ National Network Services. I make these statements for the reason that it is authentic, the staff is friendly and REAL, and the stay was memorable.
You will never EVER feel “rushed” or out of place! The Mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places, but you won’t feel like you’re staying in a museum, it’s more like a wonderfully warm home.
Value and old-school service at the Curry Mansion
This inn was the former home of the island’s first millionaire, a Bahamian immigrant who made a fortune as a pirate. Owned today by Al and Edith Amsterdam, the 3-star Curry Inn achieves an ideal balance between value and old-school service.
Start your “Key West Time” off right with a full deluxe breakfast. What can you say about made to order breakfast in the southernmost city…”eggs made your way” with HOMEMADE muffins, omelets and all the fixings. Enjoy the fresh, WARM Key West morning air with breakfast served…poolside!
Also the 2 hour afternoon, OPEN BAR cocktail party with live entertainment is fantastic and is not to be missed. The happy hours are “more” than happy, and the piano player….an absolute touch. Cocktail hour at mansion is more like a “light dinner hour,” with a fully stocked bar, premium beverages, combined with fresh, heavy snacks.
The reality of being a one of the best Key West Inns, is the location…it’s PERFECT, one block off Duval Street and three blocks from Mallory Square where the sunset celebration takes place every night, and the temptations of Key West, are just…steps away.
The KEY to any good historic inn is the staff, and The staff could not be better, they’re friendly and most accommodating. Ask for anything extra your met with a “no problem.”
Curry Inn Accommodations
28 clean and fresh smelling guestrooms feature air-conditioning, washers/dryers and coffee/tea makers, offering pool or courtyard views. Beautifully appointed rooms in wicker, feature private baths with All rooms accessible by exterior corridors.
Premium bedding including pillowtop mattresses with in-room Twin sofa beds. Wireless Internet access is complimentary. In addition to fax machines, complimentary newspapers, guestroom phones, ceiling fans and cable television. Other amenities include off street parking, a hot tub and swimming pool.
The Curry is an oasis of peace and quiet. If you’re into antiques and history, it is more like staying in a museum, than a hotel. When one considers all the great amenities this inn has to offer, and if you “plug in” the history, you have an overall UNIQUE experience. And Remember, in season Miss Edith is onsite making sure…all is perfect!
Want the flavor of Key West but not the crowds, the Inn is large enough to enjoy with other guests, but small enough to sit back and enjoy time with friends. Plus….Key Lime pie was first made here in 1894. What more DO-U-WANT?
You’re going to enjoy your stay at the historic Inn so much, after your stay, you’ll be recommending this place to ANYONE you know….It is, that fine!
